Flu Vaccine in Pregnant Women

The most effective method of preventing flu during pregnancy is the flu vaccine.

Flu is a respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus.

The flu virus is spread through droplets. A person with the flu spreads the virus through droplets when they cough, sneeze, or talk.

The contagiousness of the disease is 5-7 days.

The main symptoms are high fever, cough, chest and muscle pain, weakness, and fatigue. Not every flu infection is accompanied by a fever.

The flu vaccine can be administered safely because it is not a live vaccine.

Flu vaccination can be given at any time of pregnancy.

The flu vaccine protects mother and baby from the flu.

It also protects the baby after birth.

The ideal time to get vaccinated is October, when flu season begins. However, it can be administered any season between October and April, when the flu season continues.

The vaccine provides immunity two weeks after administration.

Treatment for flu:

Early treatment is important in pregnancy.

Rest is very important.

Plenty of fluids should be taken.

If cough and shortness of breath are added, be sure to consult your doctor or hospital.

Antiviral drugs used for flu protect the pregnant woman in severe cases if started within 48 hours.
